Reaction

I was really glad that Sgt. Kevin Albanese and Trooper David Aresco of the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit were able to come and talk to us because it really opened my eyes, and hopefully the eyes of others in our class, about internet safety. It was shocking and it disgusted me to hear about how many (let alone any) people were involved with child pornography. I believe there is no excuse for this crime and anyone who gets caught should be sentenced to the fullest extent and that they should lengthen the sentence time they have currently. I was glad that they were very informative I wish that more police officers went to other schools to educate on the possible dangers on the internet or the dangers of sending someone a nude pictures of yourself or even just to inform people of  all ages about what can happen to your pictures once they are put on facebook or another social media site.

  1. I completely agree with you. I really do hope that people in our class realized the true potential dangers on the internet. Also, I was highly disturbed at the amount of people that were involved in the exploitation of children on the internet. As I stated in my blog post, I believe that the punishment of the men and women involved in the exploitation should be punished under the full extent that the law allows.

  2. I agree completely. It kinda of scared me ! I also agree with Vivian's comment. It was crazy to think that someone can turn on our laptop cameras and watch us in our room. Totally freaky. I feel bad for those men and the horrible things they see, especially when you have a young child who is a girl.

  3. Definitely! I think it is incredibly important for young people in this world to be educated about the dangers of social media. I am a HUGE advocate of social media. I think it is an extremely great networking tool and has made people in this globalized world connect in a way that years ago would have been impossible. However, it is important to be educated about it and realize that what you are putting on to the web can become a lasting impression of anything that is posted.

  4. I agree , after hearing their presentation , it kinda creeped me, but i was glad they came i have little brothers and cousins now that i'm aware of these things i can watch out for them , while there on the computer ect. because a lot of people are social media fans. Social media is popular , a new website comes out and everybody gets one , parents and all. People just need too be aware of the things they post and say because it can affect them in the long run.
